The Tool Changer in Action
Building something big
It's so gratifying to see a complex project come to life.
Here is a device called 'the tool changer'.
The tool changer is an assembly kit provided by e3d.
It's an OpenSource motion system that can hold up to four (different) tools and use them independently to produce useful items or artsy-craftsy objects.
Among the options for different tool heads are: milling heads, lasers, cameras, 3d-printing extruders, etc.
Since the tool changer is OpenSource, all documentation and drawings are available online.
This makes it possible for everyone to build new toolheads for it.
I can't wait to see more toolsheads become available..
In the current configuration this build features:
- two Duet3d controller boards
- 8 motors
- 8 fans
- 4 hotends
- 1 heated bed
- a rigid aluminum frame
- a CoreXY motion system
- a number of 3d-printed parts
